SPOTLIGHT: Ryan Johnson, Gittings Global, Texas

Ryan Johnson felt the call of the camera in high school where he fell in love with photojournalism. Now, he continues to use imagery to tell stories and focuses on perfecting light-bending techniques to heighten a shot’s impact without compromising the vision that inspired it. Q: Where are you based?
A: Dallas/Fort Worth. I spend half the week in our Dallas Studio and Half in our Fort Worth Studio.

Q: When did you know you wanted to be a photographer?
A: Highschool – Photojournalism

Q: How many years have you been a photographer?
A: 15 years

Q: What do you like most about being a photographer?
A: The technical challenge of shaping light to the vision you have in your head.

Q: What is your favorite vacation destination?
A: Anywhere with a beach makes me happy!

Q: When you are not creating portraits for work, what kind of photography do you enjoy?
A: I enjoy nature, landscapes, even action figures.
