Photographing Dallas Families Since 1928

A home is measured not by its walls, but by the moments shared within them. Gittings preserves those moments as fine art that will carry your family legacy through generations.

A Gittings Portrait

From Family Portrait to Fine Art

A family portrait has a presence unlike anything else in your home. It lives where your family gathers, reminding you of toddler hands that were impossibly tiny and faces not yet touched by deepening lines. A photograph captures a moment, but a Gittings portrait preserves it.

For nearly a century, Gittings of Dallas has been the leader in local portrait photography, creating heirloom portraits that become part of a family’s legacy. Every session is thoughtfully designed in collaboration with you, ensuring your portrait reflects not only how your family looks, but who you are.

Questions

Dallas Family Photoshoot FAQs

Why is there a session fee, and are images included?

The session fee covers the session itself. Portraits are chosen and purchased afterward, at your Portrait Screening, once you have reviewed and selected your images. We’ll walk you through everything beforehand so there are no surprises.

For a general idea of portrait pricing, please see our page about Investing in Portraits.

Do you photograph pets as part of a family portrait?

Yes. Pets are part of the family, so we’re glad to include them in your session, whether as the main subject or alongside the rest of your family. Just let us know when you schedule so we can plan accordingly.

Can you photograph multiple generations together?

Yes. Multigenerational portraits are one of our specialties, whether that’s grandparents, parents, and children together, or an extended family gathering. It’s a meaningful way to capture a family as it is today.

What should my family wear for portraits?

There isn’t one right answer. Wardrobe is part of your Design Consultation, where we’ll talk through colors, coordination, and what feels true to your family. We’re glad to share guidance ahead of your session too.

How far in advance should I schedule my session?

We recommend scheduling a few weeks ahead when possible, especially during our busiest season, fall through the holidays. That said, we’re always glad to work with your timeline, so give us a call and we’ll find something that works.

It's hot in Texas. What are our comfort options during a session?

The studio or on-location in your home are the easiest choices in peak summer. Our studio is climate-controlled year-round but ff your heart is set on a full outdoor portrait near Dallas, we’ll plan it for early morning when the light is best and the heat has not reached its full peak. Your photographer will help you decide at your consultation.

Do you deliver and install our finished portrait?

Yes. Framed portrait purchases include complimentary delivery and installation at your Dallas home or office, handled personally by our team rather than an outside contractor. Installation alone is also available for an additional cost.Â
